Glamour DMC: News on the Horizon

From the Desk of the Director

A year ago Glamour Tours embarked on a rebranding and expansion programme engaging the services of New York Advertising Agency, BCA, Inc. With the name change to Glamour Destination Management, new collateral and website have been created to show off Glamour's new vibrant colours depicting the worth and beauty of the Caribbean. In addition, offices have opened in Cayman and Turks & Caicos Islands.

We are grateful to those who participated in the rebranding process and are certain that everything augers well for the future. Our travel partners, vendors and suppliers have been very supportive, and we look to the future with great optimism.

Rachel Anderson, Director - Business Development & Expansion

From the Desk of the Chairman

Twenty two years ago, in 1987, Glamour Tours opened its doors in a small office on Cottage Road, signaling the launch of the first Destination Management Company in Jamaica. Much effort was put into defining and articulating the role of such an entity. Within one month, Glamour successfully executed the first incentive group programme at the Jamaica Grande Hotel. In 1989, we were contacted to manage ground services and transportation for Half Moon, a position we continue to hold with pride.

Today, our office and transportation centre are located in the Ironshore Estate. We boast high staff retention and in fact, our first employee, Velton Binns, is still with us as Operations Manager.

Rachel Anderson, our daughter, has returned from her studies abroad to help lead our business into the next generation. In her role as Director, she is responsible for business development and has led our expansion into two islands, as well as the launch of our new Mobility Accessories product line.

We are grateful to our staff, vendors and travel partners for their tremendous support over the years. In these challenging times, we can only band together until the storm passes.

Destination Round Up

Cayman - Glamour DMC debuted its first group at the Ritz-Carlton, Cayman Islands with production overseen by both Rachel and Roy Anderson.

Jamaica - The Chinese and Jamaican Governments broke ground in the Elegant Corridor for the construction of the Rose Hall Convention Centre which will contain 50,000 square feet of show room space, along with breakout rooms and production space. This is great news for the meetings and incentive sector in Jamaica.

Turks & Caicos - The new owners of the Seven Star Resort in the Turks & Caicos will close the resort in September for refurbishing and will re-open in October.

Partnership with a Mission

In April 2009, Glamour officially launched its partnership community outreach programme, inviting clients and travel partners to give back while enjoying their trip. Interested parties can participate by giving gifts of clothing, school supplies, toys and toiletries, or contribute by mentoring children and even helping to build homes in local communities. Glamour salutes Dr. John Reynolds, a Jamaican dentist residing in Florida, who has gone beyond the call of duty through partnering with the owners of this company.
